# How to convert HEIC to JPG on your phone

## Step by step

1. **Open the bot** —  Tap **Open in Telegram**, then **Start** in the chat with @BgRemoverPhotoBot.
2. **Send the HEIC as a file** —  Tap 📎 → **File** and pick the picture. Files up to 20 MB and 40 megapixels work.
3. **Tap “Format”, then “JPG”** —  Under **What should I do with the picture?** tap **🔄 Format**, then **JPG**. **PNG** and **WEBP** are also offered; **‹ Back** returns to the menu.
4. **Save the JPG** —  The bot sends a JPG file. Open it and save it, or forward it where you need it.

**Is it free?**

Yes. Format changes count towards the 30 free photo edits a day.

**Why does my HEIC photo arrive as JPG already?**

If you send a picture as a photo rather than a file, the Telegram app may convert it before sending. Send it as a file to keep the original.

**Is the location removed?**

Yes. The bot doesn't copy EXIF and XMP metadata, which include GPS location, into the result.

**Is my photo stored?**

No. It is processed on our server and deleted after the reply. While the menu is open, the bot remembers the Telegram link to your picture for no longer than an hour.
