# How to play charades (guess the word) in a Telegram group

To play charades in a Telegram group, add the free bot @ChatGamesForGroupsBot and send /croc: you become the host, the bot shows you a secret word, and you explain it without saying it while the others type their guesses. The first correct guess wins a point for the guesser and for the host; a round lasts 3 minutes.

## Step by step

1. **Add the bot to the group** —  Tap **Open in Telegram**, then **Start** in the chat with @ChatGamesForGroupsBot, tap **➕ Add to group** and choose the group. Making the bot an admin lets players guess with normal messages.
2. **Start a round** —  Send /croc in the group. The bot announces that you are explaining a word; only one round runs in a chat at a time.
3. **Look at your word** —  Tap **👀 Show word**: the word appears in a pop-up that only you can see. Don't like it? **🔄 Another word** swaps it, and the timer keeps running.
4. **Explain it, let the others guess** —  Describe the word in the chat without saying it — hints, synonyms, emoji. Players type the word they think it is (as a reply to the round message if the bot isn't an admin).
5. **Score and next round** —  The first correct guess ends the round: the guesser and the host each get +1 point. After 3 minutes without a correct guess the bot reveals the word. Send /croc again for the next round; /top shows the scores.

## Which language are the words in?

The bot picks the word list by the host's Telegram app language: English, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian or Hindi (148 to 218 everyday words each). For any other language the words are in English. Guesses in any of these lists are recognised.

## Ideas to make charades more fun

Agree on house rules before you start: no words with the same root, only emoji for the first minute, or explain with one sentence per turn. **Do players need to send /reg for charades?**

No. /reg is for the daily pick; anyone in the group can start or guess a round.
